Some chainmail terminology will need explaining. Many of the terms used may not be familiar (at least in this context). I will cover some of the basic terms here.
Weave - A weave in chainmail is the name of the pattern used to create the piece. Some examples are: European 4-in-1, European 6-in-1, Full Persian, Half-Persian 3-in-1, Spiral, etc...
4-in-1/6-in-1/8-in-1: This is a general description of the way the links in a piece of chainmail fit together. Fairly self-explanatory; 4-in-1 means that 4 links are connected to each link, 6-in-1means 6 links are connected to each link, etc...
Link: Links are the single circular pieces of metal (also known as rings) that are connected together to form chainmail.
Basic Unit: A basic unit is what you have when you make a single set of any weave, so for 4-in-1 it would be 5 links (4 links attached to a central link), 6-in-1 it would be 7 links (6 links attached to a central link), etc...
If terms somewhere in the webpage are unknown to you, please email me asking for an explanation and I will also add the definition to this page.
Thank you...
